Try this delicious twist on Sloppy Joes with garlic bread and melted cheese. Perfect for family dinners or game nights!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
  • 2 Tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 slices frozen garlic bread
  • 1 cup shredded colby jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Prep and bake the garlic bread.
Preheat your oven according to the instructions on your garlic bread package. Place the slices on a baking sheet and pop them in the oven. This should take around 8-10 minutes, depending on the brand. Keep an eye on them – you want them golden and crisp, not burnt!
  2. Cook the ground beef.
While the garlic bread is baking, grab your skillet and start browning the ground beef over medium heat. Break it up with a spatula, and cook until there’s no pink left. I like to let it get just a little brown and crispy for added flavor. Once cooked, drain the fat (this will keep the sauce from getting too greasy) and return the beef to the skillet.
  3. Add the sauce ingredients.
Now it’s time to build that delicious, saucy Sloppy Joe flavor. Add the tomato soup, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, onion powder, salt, and garlic powder to the skillet with the beef. Stir everything together until it’s well-combined. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes, so the flavors meld and the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Assemble the garlic bread Sloppy Joes.
Carefully pull the garlic bread out of the oven. Using a spoon, top each slice with about ¼ to ⅓ cup of the beef mixture. Make sure to spread it out evenly to cover the bread.
  5. Add cheese and melt.
Sprinkle each piece of Sloppy Joe garlic bread with a couple of tablespoons of shredded Colby Jack cheese. Put the baking sheet back in the oven for just a few minutes, until the cheese melts into gooey perfection. (Keep a close eye – this doesn’t take long!)
  6. Serve hot!
Take your cheesy, garlicky Sloppy Joes out of the oven, and let them cool slightly before serving. These are best enjoyed warm and a little messy, just like any good comfort food

Notes

How to serve your garlic bread sloppy Joes

For a fun, casual dinner, I like to serve these up on a big platter with some fresh parsley sprinkled over the top (a little green never hurts!). They’re rich and filling, so I usually pair them with a light, tangy side salad – something with crisp romaine, cherry tomatoes, and a zesty vinaigrette cuts through the richness perfectly. For something heartier, oven-baked sweet potato fries make an excellent side!
