Ingredients
- ½ cup butter, at room temperature
- 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup mini chocolate chips, divided
Instructions
Step 1: Cream the butter and cream cheese
Start by adding the room-temperature butter and cream cheese into a large mixing bowl. Using your hand mixer, beat them together until the mixture is light and fluffy. This should only take about a minute or two. Make sure there are no lumps—smoothness is key here!
Step 2: Add the sweet stuff
Next, add in the brown sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat everything together until it’s well-combined and smooth. You’ll notice the mixture becoming slightly thicker and a bit grainy from the brown sugar, which gives it that classic cookie dough texture.
Step 3: Fold in the chocolate chips
Set aside a couple of tablespoons of the mini chocolate chips to sprinkle on top later. Then, gently stir the rest of the chocolate chips into the dip with a spatula. Be careful not to overmix; you just want the chips evenly distributed.
Step 4: Serve and garnish
Spoon the dip into a serving bowl and sprinkle the reserved mini chocolate chips on top for a little extra visual appeal. This step is optional, but it makes the dip look that much more tempting!
Step 5: Serve with your favorite dippers
This dip goes great with so many things! I’ll usually serve it with graham crackers, pretzels, or even sliced apples for a bit of freshness. It’s also fantastic with chocolate chip cookies for a double-cookie experience.
Notes
If you have leftovers (though I doubt you will!), store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Just give it a quick stir before serving, as it might firm up a bit in the fridge. There’s no need to reheat; just let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to soften before serving.
